The first single ‘Tongue Feathers’ is an eerie musing on solitude, despair and longing. Thick beats draped over delicate acoustic guitar creates a melancholy ambiance that draws you in. It doesn’t draw you into a happy place, but fuck happy places.

Every once in a while a film comes around that seems to have tapped into the zeitgeist of what Arc Magazine is all about. Travel, adventure, art, music – all of these hold an equal stake in the new film from Woolshed Films – 180 South.

The thing is – their music just keeps getting better. It’s as if they’ve got something to prove. A not so subtle fuck you to the industry, to those who heaped their own expectations upon them and those who fell off the bandwagon. Their sound has evolved from a singular roar from oh-so-many Marshall Stack’s dialled to 11 to something more nuanced.

The Record Club is a collection of friends who get together and re-record an entire album in a day. They put their own spin on the tunes and then release them to the interweb one song at a time, one per week. So far they’ve covered The Velvet Underground, Leonard Cohen and unfolding now – INXS

Who would have thought 15 years ago that Green Day was going to eventually create two concept albums (so far) and that they were going to get transformed into Broadway shows. That would have been the bet of a lifetime to place at the height of the pseudo-alternative, proto-pop-punk, grunge era of the mid 90’s. Green Day cut their teeth writing songs about masturbation, getting stoned and named their breakout album after a euphemism for shit. Who’d have guessed this a decade and a half later?
